Gametime!

After a full day of venturing around Johannesburg, gathering consumer insights and embracing the culture, we had the opportunity to end the day on the Football field -- what better way!! With the help of a few, we set up a practice game between our Nike Football Leadership team and some of the better teenagers in the area. Our team was, naturally, a little nervous, considering most of us spend very few hours (relatively) with the Football at our foot in current times.

We arrived at the field, and I think the team was encouraged to see that the competiton may not be all it was hyped up to be.

..even though, I think we may have even struggled against these top young athletes!

Gareth was one of the first out on the field, looking confident...

Phil, 'the creative guy', showed surprisng skill throughout.

To warm-up, we the had the opportunity to play a small-sided game amongst ourselves. Our confidence was riding high

Joaque, our outgoing VP, once again managed to come with enough excuses to prevent his appearance. Rumor has it that he was quite a player back in his day, but despite my best efforts event after event, I have yet to see him touch a ball in competition.

Once the official game got started however, it was clear we were very overmatched. I'm sure there was plenty to laugh at on the sidelines.

The final result was ~6-1, and after a bit the other side was taking it easy on us. We had no answers, as silence filtered our sideline. The hands-on-the-hips says it all.

For the integrity of our team, I'll not share any more photos here ...
